…that swells in my chest when I watch my toddler really start to love and laugh at and recite the books that helped make me the reader I am — books like Amelia Bedelia and Madeline and Corduroy and Frog and Toad — and fall in love with others that are new to me, too, like Room on the Broom and Grumpy Monkey and yes, the Star Wars trilogy board books, because he also has a father, a father who is a giant nerd, but it’s OK because my kid’s favorite character in Star Wars is the Rancor, which is a giant, reptilian monster with huge, pointy teeth and a face that looks like a T. Rex had babies with a pug, so this is how I know we have a book lover and future horror fan (and of course, another giant nerd) on our hands.
