I've recently figured out how to...

…read two books at once (I’ve even done three!!), which I was against for the longest time for no good reason, but sometimes you start a book and you do want to finish it, but you’re not always in the mood for it, but you are in the mood to read something, and sometimes it’s literally the picking up of the book and the turning of pages that seems impossible, so if you’re me from the past, you might need to hear this: What you should do is get yourself an e-reader and/or a library card and/or a paperback if the other book is a hardcover (or vice versa) because sometimes you’re in the mood to read but you’re going to bed and you want the lights off and you don’t want to use a reading light or you don’t have the strength to pick up a 400-page hardcover because you’ve been carrying things all day — physical and otherwise — or the paperback words are too tiny for your screen-burned eyes but you still want to read because reading is so fun, truly like the funnest, so pick up a second book that is in a different format from the other book you’re reading — and maybe a different genre/vibe, too, that often helps, but not necessarily!! — because you deserve to be able to read even if you don’t feel like reading the specific thing you started a week ago when you were someone else in a different headspace, and also a good thing is now you won’t read that first book when you don’t feel like it and so you can fully enjoy it because you’re only reading it when you really really want to.
